Customer requirements:
Due to continuous growth, the client needed to expand their production facility. Given the ample height available within the building, the optimal solution was to construct a mezzanine floor. This new level would house production rooms underneath, creating a controlled environment essential for accommodating the new production lines. The mezzanine floor would also provide additional space for storage and manufacturing, effectively utilising the vertical space of the building.
Furthermore, the expansion included the installation of a goods lift, ensuring efficient transportation of materials between floors, and a carousel unit specifically designed for small parts storage, enhancing organisation and accessibility. These upgrades not only maximise the use of existing space but also significantly improve the efficiency and capacity of the production facility, supporting the client’s growth trajectory.
There were various challenges in constructing the mezzanine floor with production rooms underneath while the facility remained operational. One significant obstacle was the considerable height of the floor, which exceeded 5.5 meters. The primary challenge, however, was designing the mezzanine around the client's new production lines. This included a new CNC room and a production conveyor, both integral to the business operations. Consequently, the design required large single spans of 16 meters to avoid interfering with the machinery, while also working within the constraints of the existing floor slab.
The project demanded meticulous planning and logistics to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Coordinating construction activities with the client's production schedule was crucial to maintain efficiency and safety. Despite these complexities, we successfully executed the build, demonstrating our capability to deliver intricate and demanding projects while accommodating the specific needs of our clients
The end result was the creation of state-of-the-art production rooms and an impressive addition of 560m² of floor space. This expansion not only modernised the facility but also significantly increased its capacity, enabling the client to support their continued growth and operational demands effectively.
